Size:SteelThis is a budget choice for a stainless steel or copper scraper that saves hands of therapist and brings relief to muscles and fascia.
IASTM (Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization) techniques work by producing a novel neural input, thus allowing a quick reset of movement patterns and relief from pain.
Gua Sha – an ancient form of IASTM supposed to releases unhealthy bodily matter from blood stasis within sored, injured, or stiff muscle areas to promote new oxygenated blood flow to the areas, resulting in metabolic cell regeneration, recovery, and healing.
Gua Sha may and may not result in petechia. For FACIAL work petechia is usually not recommended.
TOOLS
Stainless steel tools are the best option for Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue work (like Graston, ASTYM, Gua Sha). If you are serious about IASTM you should have at least one stainless steel tool.Copper Scrapers are made of brass which is a copper alloy composed of copper and zink.
If you are looking for a low-cost option, please consider our Jade, Bian Stone or Copper Gua Sha Tools by ValeoFM. Please refer to the description carefully for cons for those tools.
The feel, resonation, durability, and the weight of stainless steel tools are different from other instruments.
CONs. Usually, all stainless steel tools are quite slippery during a session.
PROs. Cost-effective. Good to start with otherwise expensive metal IASTM tools.
LUBRICANT
Keep it simple (for the most use cases). A rule of thumb is just using Albolene – a make-up remover which is available everywhere. We also encourage playing with different types of oils and lubricants, but Albolene is so simple and cheap, that it is a no-brainer choice to start.Product details
